The owner of a pleasure craft can insure their watercraft against damage caused while using, transporting or storing it. The objects of insurance include motor boats, sailing yachts, launches and other watercraft such as rowing boats and racing boats.

Full insurance cover protects the craft against storm, wind, fire, theft, acts of vandalism, explosion, lightning, running aground, grazing the bottom and contact with any objects. Additional equipment, accidents involving the crew and passengers and the craft owner’s liability can also be insured.

The most frequent loss events concerning pleasure craft constitute collisions with various objects (such as a rock at the bottom of a body of water, other stationary obstacles or floating objects) or collisions with other watercraft.
