Preparing for a technical inspection
It is best to check your vehicle and remedy any deficiencies ahead of your technical inspection. This way you are more likely to pass the inspection first time.
Plate number lighting
The LED lights of your plate can pose a problem during inspection.
Fluids
Make sure your engine oil, coolant, brake fluid or power steering oil levels are within an acceptable range.
Tyres
The tread pattern on studded tyres must be at least 3 mm, and at least 1.6 mm deep on non-studded tyres.
Brakes
If you hear your brakes whistling or the handbrake fails to hold, visit a workshop before the inspection.
Fire extinguisher
Make sure your fire extinguisher is not expired, and that the vehicle also has wheel chocks and a warning triangle.
Documents
Bring with you the vehicle registration certificate or certificate of initial fitness.
Technical inspection deadline is on your plate number
Take a look at the last digit of the number on the plate, then add 2 to it and the resulting number will indicate the calendar month when the previous inspection will expire. This tip works for older vehicles!
